Summer Internship allows student to make his mark at Marshall

Marshall are continuously seeking talented people to join them in developing world leading capabilities and in return providing the platform for them to grow their careers, which is just what Andrew Hutchison Trivino found during his summer internship with the company.

Andrew is a Master of Mechanical Engineering fourth-year student at Heriot-Watt University and recently completed his summer engineering internship at Marshall Land Systems, which saw him join one of the largest programmes that the company is currently supporting.

He found himself deep in the development and delivery of 1,600 industry leading matrix container systems as part of the Defensiebrede Vervanging Operationele Wielvoertuigen (DVOW) programme to update the Dutch Armed Forces with new vehicles, containers and support equipment.

Andrew said:

“During my internship with Marshall, I gained insight into the broad range of activities that are critical to deliver bespoke and innovative engineering projects on a large scale. I was engaged in multiple project stages, which included design, development, manufacturing, production and testing which was all highly educational.

"I am honoured to have been granted the opportunity to take on this measure of responsibility, whilst learning valuable lessons on how to approach the typical challenges faced at an individual and team level.

"All in all it was an incredibly memorable and rewarding experience and I am more excited than ever to see what the future holds!”

Marshall Land Systems Head of Engineering, Wayne Phipps spoke about Andrew’s time on the programme:

“It was a huge pleasure to have Andrew with us over the summer and he most definitely made his mark with us. We wish him the very best in the rest of his studies at Heriot-Watt University and his future ventures!”
